Sex matters. And it matters most to female victims of sexual assault

Writing anonymously, our contributor says the contempt for traumatised women from organisations set up to help them is shameful

When the most vulnerable disadvantaged people are looking to access help, things are already bad. When those vulnerable, disadvantaged people are female, they have an added layer of difficulty.

Patriarchy.

It is only in the very recent past that females managed to campaign for and set up rape crisis centres.

Rape within marriage was only recognised as a crime a heartbeat ago.

Originally rape crisis centres were female-centred services for females to address the very specific female issues that rape creates. One very specific and major issue females need to address is pregnancy. Pregnancy caused by a penis being forced into a vagina without consent.

Every female knows why that is a female-specific issue.

EVERY FEMALE.

No dignity or respect for traumatised women

It has everything to do with the trauma caused by a male rape of a female body.

Females do not want to discuss details of a pregnancy they did not ask for with a man or be in a space where they will be judged.

Females access help to gain knowledge of their options and support to get through the consequences of their decisions following trauma.

In Scotland, the CEO of Edinburgh Rape Crisis, who was previously manager of a rape crisis centre, has shown that females will not be treated fairly, with dignity, with respect or as females with specific needs.

Denigrating female trauma is disgusting

The words Mridhul Wadhwa spoke on the Guilty Feminist podcast show, yet again, that this person has nothing but contempt for female needs and refuses to acknowledge or understand females have separate needs to males.

The language used around a discussion about females accessing a service that denigrates their trauma was beyond disgusting. Any frontline worker talking that way should be sacked. That stands for the CEO.

How can anyone trust a service that treats people trying to access it as “bigots” because they know what people with a penis are?

Females are already self-excluding from such services. Listen from 6:00.

Betrayed by Scotland’s ‘feminist’ organisations

Government-funded “feminist” services in Scotland (Rape Crisis Scotland, Edinburgh Rape Crisis, Engender, Scottish Women’s Aid , YWCA, Glasgow Women’s Library and more) do not believe sex exists any longer.

How can any female trust them when they are denying their sex-specific needs and trauma?

Feminist organisations in Scotland are now contributing to the problem of patriarchy.

Telling females to shut up and take it is not a form of feminism I recognise.
